Each instrument is crafted from sustainable
and superior quality wood from the UK
and Europe.

From the spruce grain to the maple flame –
every piece is studied carefully to make the best choice.
The wood is then handled and shaped according to its individuality. The skill of the master luthier is to unlock the potential of every piece of wood.
The Samuel Wells pattern takes inspiration from the finest 18th Century London and Italian makers but is a bespoke design suited to the contemporary player. The violin shaped swell back instrument has a versatile and exceptional tone quality making it an ideal solo and orchestral instrument.

Thirty individual components are clamped and glued together before the instrument is hand finished, keeping with tradition through hand scraping. This organic process enhances the natural beauty of the wood. The varnish is made from natural ingredients and resins. It is hardwearing and has (a unique or bespoke) an identifiable deep rich brown colour.
